Nita Navarro

Nita Navarro was born in copper country of Santiago, Chile. Through many obstacles, art was always an outlet to help her regurgitate feelings and emotions she could not express in words. It was when she was completing her Fine Art Bachelor Degree at Channel Islands University that her curiosity in the exploration of copper took her on a new journey. With support and freedom of her professor, her sculptures began taking new organic forms with each year moving further away from painting and closer to the medium she was meant to work with. Her last year of college she took an internship with John Suttman a designer, sculptor, furniture maker. Here is where her work really began to evolve. The creative process in her pieces begin with a lot of influence from nature and organic lines. All pieces begin with a drawing and other times it’s the piece frame, wood or piece of metal that drives the inspiration. Her latest works include wood, steel and aluminum. She has become one with the metal, bringing different colors, patinas and shapes that you can’t help but feel the warmth.
